If all goes according to plan, Luther College will select its 10th president this coming February.
A search committee has begun screening applications received by the college from people interested in becoming the successor to Rick Torgerson, the 9th president in the history of the college.
The list of applicants will be reduced to 12 or 15 in mid November. The list will be narrowed further, with several names expected to be submitted to the Luther Board of Regents at its meeting on February 23rd.
(Who are the college's previous nine presidents? Laur. Larsen was Luther's first president in 1853, followed by C. K. Preus in 1902, Oscar L. Olson in 1921, Ove J. H. Preus in 1932, J. Wilhelm Ylvisaker in 1948, Elwin D. Farwell in 1963, H. George Anderson in 1981, Jeffrey Baker in 1996 and Richard Torgerson in 1999, according to Luther wiki.)
