The Oneota Film Festival is offering a series of after-school workshops in Decorah beginning Tuesday, October 16th to introduce area middle school and senior high school students to the basic principles of making films.
The 10-week seminar will help students learn to create, produce, and edit their own films. The films then will be screened at the Oneota Film Festival in Decorah in January.
The purpose of the Student "Micro-Film" Seminar is to teach area students the critical, technical and artistic development of film production. Topics will include film appreciation, filmmaking models, fiction and non-fiction film development, screenwriting, image design, picture and sound editing and film distribution.
The seminar will be taught by Luther College and University of Iowa film graduate Cade Loven of Decorah.
For more information and details on how to apply, students should contact Seminar Director Cade Loven at (563) 387-0581 or loveca01@luther.edu. An application form also will be posted at http://www.oneotafilmfestival.org in October.
