It's only appropriate that Sunday's weather was sunny and a little cool--perfect weather for getting on a bike or putting on your walking shoes to explore the new Trout Run Trail.

Of course, there were activities indoors, as well, during the community's official celebration, but anyone could be excused for ducking out and hitting the trail instead.

A late afternoon ribbon cutting ceremony at the Trout Run Trail Bridge over Highway 9 capped a weekend of observances that included a 3:30 p.m. Sunday ceremony at Decorah High School, a Sunday Open Streets celebration, a Saturday evening 400 Block Juggernaut party and a Saturday morning Loop de Loop half marathon and 5k walk.run.

The activities came on the same weekend as the Northeast Iowa Alzheimer's Walk in Decorah on Sunday afternoon and Family Weekend all weekend long at Luther College.

That might have made it a little difficult to find a parking spot in town, but there was always one solution--heading out and enjoying the Trout Run Trail.
