NICC joins Food & Fitness Initiative

Northeast Iowa Community College has joined the NE Iowa Food & Fitness Initiative.

The NICC Calmar campus joins Iowa State Extension, Luther College and Upper Explorerland Regional Planning Commission as "core partners" of FFI.  The Food & Fitness Initiative serves Allamakee, Chickasaw, Clayton, Fayette, Howard and Winneshiek counties, promoting opportunities to experience, celebrate and promote healthy locally grown foods, as well as beneficial opportunities for physical activity and play.

"NICC is excited to join the initiative and expand work on FFI's newest strategy to reach out to young families and encourage healthy eating and active living into the everyday lives of parents, students and young children," stated NICC Calmar campus provost Rhonda Seibert.  "Through the college's child development center and its early childhood education curriculum, NICC brings significant connections and expertise in working with regional agencies, childcare providers, parents and children from birth to five years of age."
