Ask Mr. Answer Person: "Will the movie '2016' be shown in Decorah?"

HB e-mails Mr. Answer Person: "Just wondering if you know if the movie '2016' will be coming to the Decorah theater?  I've heard it is a must see, but due to it's anti-Obama nature they won't show it in Decorah.  Can you find out if they will be showing it and when or if they are not going to show it, why won't they?

Mr. Answer Person says: "The movie, which sets forth its vision of what the United States will look like in four years if Barack Obama is re-elected president, probably won't be shown at the Fridley Theater in Decorah.

However, politics doesn't have anything to do with it.  In fact the Fridley Theatres ownership is fairly conservative politically--you might remember that they made news a few years ago when they wanted to block the showing of a Michael Moore documentary.

No, the lack of a showing of '2016' in Decorah has more to do with economics than with politics--the theater chain is scheduling more mainstream fare instead.

A theater spokesperson says the movie line-up through the November 6th election is:

9/21- Trouble With The Curve (Starring Republican National Convention guest speaker Clint Eastwood)

9/28- Possession; Hotel Transylvania

10/5- Taken 2

10/12- Here Comes The Boom

10/19- Paranormal Activity 3

11/2- Wreck-It Ralph; Flight

Meanwhile, Dave's Digital Dog Pound in Decorah says '2016: Obama's America' will be released on DVD on Tuesday, October 9th.  The business will have copies for sale for $16.88, or, if a customer wishes to rent it, they may do so at the regular rates.
