Luther College receives $1,000 grant from the American Legion

A $1,000 grant from the American Legion of Iowa Foundation will help Luther College to create an interactive, multimedia touch-screen display on campus to honor and recognize Luther alumni who have served in the United States military.

The college hopes to dedicate the Luther College Veterans Memorial Registry and Recognition Display on Saturday, November 10th, as part of its Veterans Day observance.

The Veterans Memorial Registry and Recognition Display will enable the college to honor those alumni who currently serve and those who will serve the U.S. military in the future.  Luther has nearly 1,350 alumni veterans, 530 of whom are living.

Unlike a traditional plaque or monument that captures a moment in time, Luther's veterans registry will be web-accessible, to provide a dynamic information display with flexibility to add stories, photos, videos and other historical information on an ongoing basis. The college will also use the web-based registry to promote special alumni veteran events and share news of awards and recognition bestowed upon alumni veterans and those currently serving on active duty
