Blue Zones representatives visit Decorah

Representatives from the Blue Zones Project visited Decorah on Thursday.  The site visit was the next step in a community-wide effort to make Decorah an Iowa Blue Zones.

Blue Zone Project representatives gave a presentation Thursday to about 50 Decorah representatives at the Steyer Opera House. 

Last November Decorah was named one of the 50 statewide semifinalists for "Blue Zone" designation.  But the Blue Zones Project decided to concentrate at first on larger Iowa communities.  After it selected Cedar Falls, Mason City, Spencer and Waterloo as the first Blue Zone project communities in Iowa, it announced it would hold a second selection process for smaller Iowa communities.  Decorah was selected as one of ten smaller communities for Blue Zone Site visits.
