City council grants authority to initiate proceedings against property owner at 616 Center Street

After making several contacts with the property owner at 616 Center Street over the last 12 months, City of Decorah officials have asked for and received the authority to initiate court proceedings.  City Manager Chad Bird says the property owner made some "substantial improvements" to the property over the weekend, but in the past such improvements have not remained in effect and there has been "little attempt" to reach a permanent solution.

The Decorah City Council gave its unanimous approval to granting the authority to proceed in the matter if necessary.
