Winneshiek Medical Center Board of Trustees candidate Jim Tweedy says the healthcare field "is an area that I have expertise." Tweedy has worked in the Twin Cities area for over 30 years, most recently operating six mental health clinics.
In 2005 Tweedy moved to Bluffton after marrying a Decorah area woman. He now spends two days a week in Minneapolis, but the rest of his time in the Decorah area. "I have time to get involved" Tweedy says of running for the hospital board.
More to the point, he says, is that he's worked for years bringing together competing health care organizations in the Twin Cities area: "It's pretty common where I've been working." "You have different camps" in many healthcare situations, says Tweedy, and the secret is helping them "figure out how to collaborate yet compete."
Tweedy says he comes into the Winneshiek County situation "without preconceived notions," but with the skils to bring people together. "They need to figure out how to collaborate."
