Carole e-mails Mr. Answer Person: "Interesting plants growing on the land near Will Baker Park that reportedly will be soccer fields in the future.  Looks like the same plants on the future sledding hill.  What's up?"

Mr. Answer Person says: "This summer was rough for anyone trying to get grass started--including the Decorah Parks & Recreation Department.  But actually the best time of year to get a lawn started is--the fall.  So Decorah Parks & Recreation will be at the Will Baker Park property very soon, doing hydroseeding to get more grass started.

You're also right that the property will be used for a sledding hill this winter, then for soccer fields next spring.  That's not too soon a schedule--it's very possible to get a good field of grass started by that time."
