Winneshiek County will hold public hearing on vacation of property around old bridge off College Drive.

Winneshiek County supervisors will hold a public hearing soon on the vacation of some county-owned property near a bridge off College Drive that used to be part of the old Highway 52, but now serves only the house owned by Adrian Strand of Decorah.  Strand says he's willing to take over ownership of the bridge..

Supervisors, who have plenty of other bridges in the county to deal with, are more than happy to hand over the bridge to Strand.  A project to bring the bridge up to the required three-ton load limit standard has been completed, so county officials say they're ready to vacate the property and give it to Strand.
