A Decorah girl has been named Alternate Iowa Dairy Princess

17-year-old Karla Hageman of Decorah is the 2012 Alternate Iowa Dairy Princess. Karla, the daughter of Alan and Ruth Hageman of Decorah, was selected in a ceremony Wednesday night at the Iowa State Fairgrounds in Des Moines. She represented the Iowa Guernsey Association in the contest. Hageman is a senior at South Winneshiek High School.

19-year-old Logan Worden of Oelwein was crowned the 59th Iowa Dairy Princess. Worden represented the state's Brown Swiss breeders in the contest. She is a sophomore at Iowa State University studying dairy science and agricultural business.

Both Hageman and Worden will begin their reigns on September 1st. The current Iowa Dairy Princess, Jessica Hammerand of Epworth, and Alternate Princess, Heidi Hain of Nora Springs, will continue their work through the end of the State Fair.
