Hospital's Director of Radiology resigns

Posted: Wed, Jul 18, 2012 4:55 PM

Several sources tell decorahnews.com that Winneshiek Medical Center Director of Radiology Julie Katzer has submitted her resignation to the hospital.

Katzer's resignation is the latest development in staffing issues at the radiology department.  They began in 2009 when the hospital was unable to reach an agreement with longtime radiologist Dr. David Jensen.

Dr. Jensen was replaced by Dr. Kirby Clark, who left after a few months.  Then radiology services were provided by temporary fill-in radiologists and by radiologists providing services remotely.  In August of 2010, Dr. Richard Remark began working at the radiologist.  He has been working ever since, although several other employees in the radiology department have left in the past several years.

The radiology department is important to the financial health of a hospital, since the equipment requires expensive investments that must be repaid through serving enough patients.
