The Decorah Community Schools website has a new look as of Wednesday. The school district's Director of Information Systems and Technology, Kurt DeVore, says the website will be ready soon to accommodate registration activities as well.
According to DeVore, the change provides easier use and many new features. He says the new website, which he defines as "clean and fresh," was developed by SharpSchool and will do about twice as much as the old site--at half the cost. Some of the services and look may be gradually filtered in.
One of those services will be related to mass notification messages that are commonly used by schools to advise regarding weather or other emergency situations. Currently the district uses Iowa School Alert, but DeVore anticipates transitioning to services offered by SharpSchool.
The site will allow users to individually "bookmark" subsections. Another feature will note weather statistics as recorded on a school building weather station.
The website address will remain the same, www.decorah.k12.ia.us
