Ronan House to be torn down soon

Trees, bushes and weeds have overgrown much of the former Ronan house

A house near the new Trout Run Trail Bridge should be torn down in another week or two.

That's the word from Decorah City Administrator Chad Bird, who says he has talked with property owner Brad Spitzak about the former Ronan House on Highway 9.

Bird says Spitzak had discussed an earlier demolition, but wanted to check with historic preservation groups and allowed them the chance to tour the home and video tape it.
