Rain! Decorah's streak of dry days ends

After 21 days without measureable precipitation, Decorah received some rain Friday morning.

Decorah weather statistician Richard Bernatz says the last time it rained measurable precipitation in Decorah was June 21st.  That places this year's dry spell at 21 consecutive days.  Bernatz says there have been only three longer stretches without mesurable rain: a 22-day interval from June 27th to July 18th in 1894; a 37-day interval from June 5th to July 11th in 1910; and a stretch from July 1st to August 31st in 1948 that lasted for an amazing 62 days.
