Two injured in Highway 52 accident

Winneshiek County Sheriff's Deputies were called out to a second serious accident in three days on Wednesday morning.

21-year-old Nestor Castellanos of Decorah was westbound on 350th Street around 6:15 when he failed to stop at the stop sign at Highway 52.  His vehicle hit the side of a semi driven by 55-year-old Thomas Hampton of Prairie Du Chien.

Hampton was not injured, but Castellanos was taken by medical helicopter to Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse.  A passenger in Castellanos' car, 22-year-old Wilson Ordonez, was taken by ambulance to Winneshiek Medical Center..

The accident follows a major accident Monday morning on Highway 9 in which. fortunately, only minor injuries were suffered.
