Current drought could become the third-longest in Decorah history

Decorah weather statistician Richard Bernatz says the last time it rained measurable precipitation in Decorah was June 21st.  That places the current dry spell at 19 consecutive days--and counting.

Bernatz has studied the record books and has discovered only three longer stretches without mesurable rain: a 22-day interval from June 27th to July 18th in 1894; a 37-day interval from June 5th to July 11th in 1910; and a stretch from July 1st to August 31st in 1948 that lasted for an amazing 62 days.

The next possible chance of measurable rain in Decorah is this Saturday.
