Sarah Wicks' car went on a trip Sunday morning. Unfortunately, she was having breakfast at Ruby's Restaurant at the time.
Decorah Police officer David Smutzler was driving down Water Street around 10:00 a.m. Sunday when he saw a small black truck traveling in reverse, the wrong way. He realized the vehicle was without a driver. Officer Smutzler activated the emergency lights on his squad car to warn people in the area.
Wick's car continued driving down Water Street, past State Street, striking a parked car owned by Teresa Dehning of Decorah, then crossing Day Street and traveling into the site of the new Oneota Family Eye Care Clinic, where a mound of grass and dirt caused it to come to a stop.
The accident caused a total of $3,500 in damages, but no injuries.
