City to issue abatement letter to owner of 1200 State Highway 9

The City Council voted 5-1 Monday night to issue a letter of abatement to the owner of property at 1200 Highway 9 (long known as the Ronan house). The city has been in discussion for some time with the owner, Brad Spitzack, to bring the property into proper order, but recent attempts to contact him on the matter have not been successful. While voting to abate (force compliance, possibly with the City doing the work) it was noted that the owner had been very cooperative in regard to working with the City related to the bike trail work being done in the area and it was hoped that compliance would be soon forthcoming.
