Decorah gas prices are very close to the national average of $3.40/gallon. Most Decorah stations logged in at $3.39 as of Thursday. Dave Usgaard of Bob's Standard said he expects the prices which have been gradually decreasing to remain about even through the holiday period.

But what you pay will depend on the direction you travel.

The average Iowa price, which is heading down is $3.39, but some prices are as low as $3.28 in Cedar Rapids.

The Minnesota Twin Cities average is falling but at $3.46, with prices from $3.39 to $3.59.

The Illinois average was $3.52, but gas up before you hit Chicago where the average was $3.69.

Wisconsin generally has been higher than Iowa, but as of Thursday prices averaged $3.40, with some prices being as low as $3.32 in the Madison area.
