Dear Mr. Answer Person: "What's going on on the hill along Pulpit Rock Road?"

Ellen e-mails: "Dear Mr. Answer Person: What is going on on the hillside behind the field next to Pulpit Rock?  Who owns that land and what's happening?

Mr. Answer Person says: "The property, which used to be farmland, is part of the property purchased by the Decorah Parks & Recreation Department for additional recreational facilities in town.  Most of the property is being used for soccer fields.  But the area to the south will be used for a sledding hill this winter.

Decorah Park-Rec Director Rick Edwards says his department has had a lot of requests for a sledding hill in town.  So crews cut down some trees on the hillside and will soon be seeding the property in grass.  Crews will also work on cleaning out the walking trail that climbs up the hillside, so sledders have somewhere to walk up the hill this winter.

When it's done Decorah will have a safe place where kids and adults alike can go enjoy the snow during winter.
