A Virqoua, Wisconsin company is being asked to give a quote for the historic salvage of the north building at Wellington Place.
Supervisor John Logsdon made the announcement at Monday's county board meeting. He said the firm's cost estimate would provide several options.
Meanwhile, County ASttorney Andy Van Der Maaten will be asked for a legal opinion on whether the north building belongs to Winneshiek County, to Wellington Place, or to both institutions.
A letter from the Winneshiek County Historical Preservation Commission to the county board said the organization is also gathering information about which group controls the building, although the group believes there is joint responsibility for the building.
Finally, historic preservationist Deborah Bishop proposed to county supervisors that she could organize a community clean-up day for the building so that issues such as mold in the building could be corrected.
