The Winneshiek Farmers Market is doing well in its new location in the lower Co-op parking lot.
The market moved across Hevily Street for the first time on Saturday and was in its new location again on Wednesday afternoon.
Winneshiek Farmers Market manager Steve Mc Cargar says the new location has been "a win-win all the way around." He expects the market to have a record number of vendors this coming Saturday--between 35 to 40. The new location is a paved parking lot, meaning there is less dust and fewer puddles to contend with.
Vendor Eric Sessions says he's had "a lot of good customer response." The paved parking lot is especially welcome for people in wheelchairs or with walkers, although everyone seems to appreciate the level surface, says Sessions.
Nathan Hecht fdrom Canoe Creek Produce says the location is more visible and the market feels a little more open. Even though gusty winds Wednesday afternoon forced him and others to add sandbags to hold down their displays, Hecht says the new location is working well.
