A former Decorah resident has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in Huntington, West Virginia, according to WSAZ-TV News.
51-year-old Scott Wedo pleaded guilty to five counts of distributing and exhibiting material depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct. He faces up to two years in jail on each count, 30 years of supervision after his release, must register as sex offender and forfeit his computer as part the plea deal. He is set to be sentenced June 28th.
WSAZ-TV reports West Virginia State Police arrested Wedo back in February. Troopers began their investigation after getting a call from a service technician at a local computer repair center who discovered sexually explicit photos of minors engaged in sexual acts on a computer that belonged to Wedo. Investigators say they found five photographs of juveniles that were nude and performing various sexual acts, along with a homemade movie that included juveniles engaging in various sexual acts with adults.
decorahnews.com contacted Cabell County Circuit Court officials in West Virginia, who confirmed the Huntington, West Virginia resident is the same age and has the same middle name as the Decorah resident and shares the same birth date. Scott Wedo still maintains a Post Office Box address in Decorah, but has left the community, as have other family members. Scott Wedo is a 1980 graduate of Decorah High School.
