(Mr. Answer Person is waving the white flag, conceding defeat in his attempt to track down reports of unmanned drones flying over Decorah)
I give up! After several weeks of trying to track down reports of unmanned drones in the skies over Decorah, I have failed miserably!
At first is appeared the reports of drones were by people who had mistaken a prviate airplane for a drone. But too many similar reports came in, so I scratched that theory.
Then came reports that the Environmental Protection Agency was using drones to spy on livestock confinement operations. Congressman Tom Latham even issued a news release blasting the practice. There's just one problem--the EPA says it uses private planes, not drones.
Then it seemed likely the NRCS was using drones to take aerial photos of cropland. The problem is, they deny the report as well.
So we're left with this conclusion: Was it a drone? Probably. What was it doing? WHo the heck knows!
