Winneshiek County supervisors on Monday morning will meet with County Attorney Andy Van Der Maaten to review a proposed 28E agreement that would unite seven counties in working to prevent flooding and improve water quality along the Turkey River.
The Turkey River Watershed covers over one million acres and interacts with portions of seven counties and 37 cities in Northeast Iowa.
The 28E will need to be signed by Winneshiek County and filed by June 30th.
Once the Turkey River Watershed Management Authority is formed, officials will create a plan to reduce flooding and improve water quality and then will implement it.
For more information about the Turkey River Watershed Management Authority, please call Brad Crawford or Lora Friest at the Northeast Iowa RC&D office located in Postville at (563) 864-7112 or visit www.turkeyriver.org to find out more.
