State Senator Mary Jo Wilhelm of Cresco has been honored by Trees Forever for her efforts to protect Iowa's environment.
Wilhelm received the organization's Advocacy Award for her strong voice on behalf of the trees, woodlands and natural areas of Iowa. The award was presented at the organization's Annual Celebration and Awards Ceremony in Coralville.
"Trees matter," said Wilhelm. "They enhance the environment and are important to the quality of life of both the people and the animals." Added Wilhelm. "As a member of the Agriculture & Natural Resources Budget, I am able to fight for strong support to protect and enhance trees and other natural resources that do so much to make Iowa a great place to live."
