Those quilt blocks on barns throughout Winneshiek County have now inspired a Twin Cities woman to do the same project in her hometown.
The Chanhassen Villager reports that Naomi Russell has started a barn quilt block project in Carver County because of a trip to Decorah: "We were moving our son to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa," Russell told the newspaper. "I kept seeing these quilt blocks painted on the barns. We should do something like that in Carver County."
