The final segment of the Trout Run Trail has been paved. So I threw my bike on the back of the car and headed out to get a look on Tuesday evening.
The trail segment looks great, with the route going along farmland on the top of a hill. It's getting to the top of that hill that can be exciting. That's especially true if you begin your ride, as I did, by riding up old Highway 52. The trail gives you a workout, with long hills up and down. That probably means this part of the Trout Run Trail will attract younger and more extreme bike riders. Families with young kids probably will choose the part of the trail near the Decorah Hatchery.
Still, now that I've gotten my breath back, I have to compliment the Trails of Winneshiek for another well done segment of Trout Run Trail.
