Decorah bald eagle "D1"--the one-year-old bald eagle fitted with a satellite transmitter that allows its movements to be tracked--continues to amaze Raptor Resource Project officials.
After spending the winter close to home near Decorah, D1 suddenly headed north in May--and hasn't stopped.
RRP Director Bob Anderson says the bald eagle is now far into Canada. The transmitter located D1 on Tuesday at Polar Bear Provincial Park, Iwhich lies on the western shore where James Bay joins Hudson Bay.
According to Wikipedia, "Polar Bear Provincial Park is the largest park in Ontario. It has no visitor facilities, is reachable only by air, and special permission is required before visiting it."
