Decorah Public Library staff will offer a new weekly drop-in technology help session from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. each Tuesday beginning June 12th.
Anyone can stop by and get one-on-one help with an e-reader, tablets, smart phones, mp3 players, the NEIBORS audio book and e-book lending program or anything else that isn't covered in the library's regular Tuesday morning computer class.
Library Administrative Coordinator Kristin Torresdal said "We decided to offer this program because we have heard from so many people that they have new gadgets that they want to use, but they need some help getting started. Especially where e-readers and e-books are concerned, it's a bit confusing because this is all relatively new technology and nothing is particularly streamlined or user friendly yet."
Director Lorraine Borowski added, "People feel silly for not knowing how to use all this stuff and they really shouldn't; this is a time when we're all learning, young and old alike. Library staff would love to help with peoples' questions and if we don't know the answer, we'll find it. The library also has a couple of e-readers that people can look at, if they just want to get a feel for what these devices are and how they're used."
