The Winneshiek Medical Center has opened a new Diabetes Clinic to help patients meet their health care goals and reduce the likelihood of developing complications from diabetes.
Two Winneshiek Medical Center Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners, Kathy Petersburg and Johanna Tweedy, recently completed a Diabetes Intensive Training Course at the Mayo School of Health Sciences. They offer a team approach to diabetes care.
In addition to working closely with providers in the diabetes clinic, a patient's diabetes management plan will be enhanced by individualized care/consults with the Winneshiek Medical Center dietitian/diabetes educator Angie Kerndt and the diabetes educator/registered nurse Jean Markee.
The Winneshiek Medical Center Diabetes Clinic is available by appointment the first and third Monday of every month and visits are covered by most insurance plans, including Medicare and Medicaid. Patients do not need a doctor's referral to receive care through the Diabetes Clinic.
