Gas leak forces brief evacuation of numerous downtown Decorah businesses

A gas leak along Water Street led to the evacuation of numerous downtown Decorah businesses around 10:15 Friday morning.

Crews from Black Hills Energy were called to the scene to shut off the gas line.  Traffic on Water Street was diverted while Black HIlls, Decorah firefighters and Decorah police responded to the situation.  Downtown Decorah business employees were allowed back in to their businesses after the gas leak had been fixed in 10-15 minutes.
