Fall election ballot is not determined yet

Tuesday's primary election in Winneshiek County means the Republican Party's ticket for county supervisor candidates is set for the fall election, as is the Democratic Party's ticket.

But that doesn't mean election officials can start printing ballots now.

Other candidates can still run without a party affiliation--and those candidates can't file nomination papers until August 3rd.  Bob Watson and John Franzen have already indicated their intentions to file nomination papers to run as independents--and additional candidates could surface, including candidates who lost in Tuesday's primary.

That means November's election ballot won't be determined until the end of August.
