Earlier Mr. Answer Person fielded a question from Bruce about whether a drone had been flying in the skies over Decorah last week. Mr. Answer Person replied that Bruce might have seen a private airplane owned by a Luana man that looked a little like a drone.
But now comes an e-mail from Cody, telling us the Environmental Protection Agency is using aerial drones in Nebraska and Iowa. The surveillance came to light in a letter sent to EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson by Nebraska lawmakers.
The Environmental Protection Agency's aerial photo surveillance of livestock feeding operations is being conducted to help enforce the Clean Water Act. Nebraska's farmers complained about the practice, but the EPA is defending the practice.
So was that really a drone in the skies of Winneshiek County last week? An official at Iowa's State Capitol says they know of no drone flights over Iow recently.
