Gundersen Lutheran awarded for its patient experience

The organization "HealthGrades" has named Gundersen Lutheran a recipient of the 2012 Outstanding Patient Experience Award.

The group says Gundersen Lutheran ranked in top 5 percent of hospitals nationally for patient experience.  The ranking is based on the analysis of patient satisfaction data for 3,837 U.S. hospitals.

HealthGrades analyzed hospital survey data collected from the federal government, from April 2010 to March 2011.

According to HealthGrades, 80 percent of patients treated at the nation's best-performing hospitals would definitely recommend the hospital compared to only 53 percent of patients who received care from the poorest-performing hospitals.
