Supporters of Decorah's 322nd Engineering Company raised money over the weekend for one of the unit's soldiers.

Spc. Brad Foreman learned he had liver cancer just days after returning from deployment in Afghanistan.

Despite having cancer, Foreman, his wife, Michelle, and their daughter made the trip from Michigan to be with the 322nd Engineering Company soldiers in Decorah.

"Even on his worst day, he never considered (not coming)," said Michelle.

Foreman told decorahnews.com the reception he got in Decorah over the weekend was "overwhelming" and "humbling."

Assisted by a walking cane, he took part in all the activities.  He says he was even able to help serve Friday night's benefit spaghetti dinner--giving him a chance to say "thanks" to the people who had come to show their support.
