DVDs for the Troops program will be run in Decorah

Posted: Fri, June 1, 2012 3:23 PM

From now through the 4th of July weekend, Dave's Digital Dog Pound in Decorah along with itss sister stores, Digital Dog Pound in Oelwein and Evansdale and VidCycle in Waterloo, will be collecting DVDs to be donated to an organization called "DVDs for the Troops."

"DVDs for the Troops" was started by two film-making brothers, Matt and Ryan Gielen.  It started as two brothers just thinning out their DVD collection and has ended up being a nationwide effort to collect movies to send to soldiers serving abroad.  Their goal is to deliver 500,000 movies to the troops, one DVD for every soldier serving overseas.

Dave's Digital Dog Pound in Decorah is inviting customers to donate any unwanted DVDs that they have.  These DVDs will be sent directly to soldiers overseas.  Any donations made to this program are 100 percent tax-deductible.  For every DVD that is donated by a customer, Dave's Digital Dog Pound will donate a DVD, up to 250 DVDs.

If you have any questions regarding "DVD's for the Troops," you can visit www.dvdsforthetroops.org or contact Dave Donaldson at 387-6555.
