St. Benedict School eighth graders recently spent three days at Eagle Bluff Environmental Center near Lanesboro, Minnesota.
Students learned about teamwork, built self-confidence, and challenged themselves in ways they had never done before. Students learned to appreciate their differences and to celebrate each other's uniqueness, while improving their skills of communication, critical thinking, problem solving, and cooperation.
The St. Ben's students also had the responsibility of kitchen duty in the Eagle Bluff cafeteria where they worked the food waste center, washed tables, and/or wiped and put away dishes, as well as helping their team to earn the Eagle Eye Award. This marks the 13th year St Benedict School has received this award for good stewardship of resources and the environment. Students accomplished this task by eliminating water waste, conserving electricity and energy, as well as correctly recycling all necessary trash. Students also earned the Golden Platter award for meeting their food waste goal while on their trip, marking it the sixth year in a row for this accomplishment.
