The Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department has arrested a Cresco man following a high speed chase into Winneshiek County.

Cresco Police on Tuesday attempted to stop Jon Jozef Meyers of Cresco for a traffic violation in the city of Cresco.  However, Myers fled, pursued by Cresco police officers eastbound on Highway 9.  The chase reached speeds in excess of 100 miles an hour.  Meyers eventually crashed into two Cresco police cars near County W-14 and 290th Street.  There were no injuries.

Meyers was taken into custody on two felony charges--eluding a police officer and assault on a police officer.

The investigation into the incident continues, with the Cresco Police Department, Iowa State Patrol and the Winneshiek County Sheriff's Department all involved.
