Strong winds caused some damage in Locust on Thursday evening.

Wind gusts over 40 miles an hour downed several trees in the area.  The winds also blew the steeple off the tower at St. John's Lutheran Church and damaged a vehicle at the farm of Arnie Weiss.

At the nearby home of Duane and Alice Rufferidge, the winds knocked down a hay barn.  Duane Rufferidge says he and his wife were in Decorah when the storm struck and returned to find the winds had also knocked down a tree, ripped an antenna off the roof of their house and twisted a gazebo on their patio..
