Downtown Decorah flower basket program is starting its 17th year

Crews from the Decorah City Street Department put up the downtown's hanging flower baskets on Thursday.

The Downtown Decorah Betterment Association and the downtown Self-Supporting Municipal Improvement District operate the flower basket program.  This is the 17th year it has been in operation.

Volunteers from the DDBA have spent time this week getting the flower baskets ready to be put out.  Now that the flower baskets are up, three teenagers will water the baskets in the morning, while a rotating team of volunteers will do the watering at night.  The flower baskets were grown by Decorah Greenhouses.
