The Decorah Public Library's children's summer reading program, "Dream Big-Read!" will start Monday, June 11th. Children ages 3-10 years are invited to participate in the 5 week long program.
There will be a number of special programs during the five week session. Juggler, magician, storyteller and author Bob Kann will visit the library at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13th. Balloon twister and storyteller Daniel Poe will visit at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 19th. The annual Talent Show will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 27th. Alice the Great Horned Owl and trainer Karla Bloem from the Houston Nature Center will visit at 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 2nd. Iowa Public Television's Dan Wardell will entertain kids with his special stories and healthy tips at 10:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 11th.
Children who read 15 hours will be rewarded with a free library T-shirt courtesy of the Friends of the Decorah Public Library. Area restaurants are donating free food coupons for kids who complete their reading logs. Reading calendars will be available at the library starting Thursday, May 31st.
