Decorah's siren system prompts public questions

City of Decorah officials are again fielding questions aboutthe city's warning sirens.

Decorah city council member John Franzen says he wascontacted by several elderly neighbors wondering why an "all Clear" sirenwasn't sounded following a recent storm.  But Decorah Police Chief BillNixon says the National Weather Service doesn't issue "All Clear"messages. 

Other city officials note that the sirens are intended onlyto warn people who are outdoors and that people who are in their houses shouldlisten to the radio or TV to get up to the minute weather information duringstorms.
