Glenwood Township resident Bob Watson says he will run for the Winneshiek County Board in District #1 as an independent candidate.
Watson is a former combat Marine who owns Watson Brothers, a company that works in the water, wastewater, and solid waste industry.
Watson says he is running for the county board so he can campaign for neighborliness, energy efficiency, and the pursuit of happiness. He wants to tackle the issue of barking dogs, passing a simple set of regulations, combined with a voluntary campaign to end the barking problems He wants to encourage county residents and businesses to embark on a county wide energy efficiency program. He also wants to change the notifications for zoning change requests so that all property owners within a certain radius are notified, not just contiguous property owners.
Watson has a campaign website, http://www.watsonforsupervisor.org/
In November he will face incumbent Democrat Bill Ibanez and the winner of September's Republican Party primary between Dean Darling and Dennis Karlsbroten.
