Seattle-based investigative reporter Chris Halsne has disclosed new information about the arrest of a Secret Service Agent last summer in Decorah.

Halsne cited never before released public records as showing Daniel Valencia flashed his federal badge when first stopped for Driving While Intoxicated.

The police records, released to Halsne, state: "The male driver had bloodshot and watery eyes. I asked the male driver for some identification. The male opened up his wallet showing me a federal badge and Secret Service identification. I asked the driver for a driver's license, which he handed me located from within his wallet and badge. The male was very slow in his movements and stated that he was armed at that time."  The officer reports that Valencia failed a number of sobriety tests.  Three open bottles of Fat Tire Beer, with various amounts of liquid remaining in them, were booked into evidence

In February Valencia was ruled guilty of 1st offense drunk driving, fined $1250 and sentenced to two days in jail (which he had already spent).

Halsne says the Secret Service would not comment on Valencia's current employment status.
