Decorah High School's Blue Ribbon School Award was on display

This has been a good school year for Decorah High School, so on Tuesday its students, staff and teachers celebrated.

An awards ceremony Tuesday morning included recognition of the high school for receiving the National Blue Ribbon Schools Award.  Teacher Allysen Lovstuen said the award was given in recognition of the fact that students and teachers "did not settle for good enough."

Teacher Mark Rhodes also recognized the high school for being one of just 367 schools in the United States to be named to the AP Honor Roll.  Rhodes said Decorah HS was recognized for increasing access to Advanced Placement classes at the same time students improved their scores on AP tests.

Following Tuesday's awards ceremony, students were treated to pizza and cake at Viking Stadium.
