Axel Snow of Decorah has been selected to the Hokkaido International Foundation's Japanese Language and Japanese Culture Program, and has been awarded two scholarships from Harvard University funding his participation. The scholarships were awarded from the Harvard Asia Fairbanks Center and from the Rockefeller International Experience Scholarship Fund. This year the Hokkaido International Foundation admitted 60 students from colleges and universities around the world. The studies are led by Professor Seiichi Makino of Princeton University and Professor Osamu Kamada of Nanzan University, Nagoya. It is conducted over the summer months at the HIF campus in Hakodate on the northern island of Japan.
