The Nordic Fest Board of Directors has announced this year's Grand Marshal and Nordic Fest Flag Recipients.
Raptor Resource Project Director Bob Anderson has been named Grand Marshal in recognition of his impact on Decorah through tourism promotion, education and enhancement. Last year, more than 200 million viewers in 184 countries watched the eagle cam, also learning about Decorah in the process.
Tim and May Kay Lynch have been selected as this year's Flag Recipients for their long-time efforts in making an impact on Nordic Fest. Nordic Fest's opening ceremonies take place in front of the Lynch's property at 206 W. Main Street, with the Lynches providing electricity for sound equipment, drinking water for Nordic Dancers and shade trees for all to enjoy.
As one nomination letter states, "In the weeks leading up to the fest, you can find Tim and Mary Kay in their front yard sprucing things up with fresh paint on the porch, beautiful landscaping and anything else they can to help make this popular venue look spectacular for fest-goers."
Bob Anderson and Tim and Mary Kay Lynch will be formally recognized at the Nordic Fest Opening Ceremonies on Thursday, July 28th. They will also ride in the Grand Parade. Their stories will be printed in the Nordic Fest's official program for 2012.
